The Aero GT Is The Perfect Send-Off For Morgan’s V8 Sports Car

The Morgan Aero 8 has been around for a while, making its debut in 2001 as Morgan’s first new car since the 1960s. It’s made a name as one of the most fun oddball cars you can own, sporting quirky ’50s looks and a naturally aspirated BMW V8 engine. Despite its status as a “modern” vehicle, it still used wood as a part of its chassis structure—a Morgan signature.

Of course, all good things must come to an end—including the Aero 8. Morgan is ending production on its sporty two-seater, effective this year. The company is sending off the car with a final edition model called the GT—all eight examples of which have already been sold. Fortunately for Alex Goy of Carfection, Morgan invited him down to test out a pre-production model. We’re not jealous. Not one bit.

Though the final eight production GTs will be manuals, the one Alex Goy drives in this video is an automatic. It’s also orange, and doesn’t have a roof. But it does share the same BMW-sourced 367-horsepower V8 engine, which allows the car to reach 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds, and a top speed of 170 mph.
